Enablence Deploys Advanced Broadband Access Solutions in China

AUG 31, 2010 - 16:53 ET

OTTAWA, CANADA--(Marketwire - Aug. 31, 2010) - Enablence Technologies Inc. ("Enablence" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:ENA), a leading supplier of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) equipment for triple-play residential and business services and optical components and subsystems for access, metro and long-haul markets, is delivering $6.0 million worth of equipment to China's Dalian Huanyu Sunshine Group Co., Ltd., as part of a $20-million project announced earlier this year.

Dalian Huanyu Sunshine Group is a leading Chinese telecommunication equipment vendor that has an agreement with Enablence to sell comprehensive Next Generation Networks migration solutions for Chinese telecom service providers and support Enablence in developing the product in accordance with the specific requirements of the Chinese market. This agreement was first struck with Teledata Networks, which Enablence acquired in June with the agreement announced in February 2010.

Under the terms of the $20-million agreement with Huanyu Sunshine, Enablence is providing its advanced Multi Services Access Gateway (MSAG) platform. The platform offers an ideal solution for the Chinese market's growing demand for advanced services, through the implementation of high-speed Ethernet design, advanced VoIP, ADSL2+ and IP capabilities, and the support of a wide range of voice and broadband services. By incorporating the multi-functionalities of an MSAG and IP-DSLAM enables the efficient delivery of a complete set of triple-play applications for residential and business customers.

In this quarter, Enablence has delivered $2.5 million worth of BroadAccess equipment with another $3.5 million to follow in coming weeks bringing the total sales to $12.4 million under this agreement. This equipment is being deployed in multiple cities across China to provide a range of telephony and advanced broadband services. The completion of the full project is expected in the next coming months for the remaining part of the contract.

"We welcome the added capabilities of Enablence to support our deployment," said Zhou Quanli, President of Huanyu Sunshine. "The growing needs of the Chinese market demand advanced NGN solutions that also provide a clear and economical migration path to all-optical access networks."

"This project demonstrates the key international growth markets and Tier 1 opportunities Enablence is now well positioned to serve with the addition of Teledata's cutting edge solutions to our portfolio of advanced next-generation copper and all-optical broadband access products," said Tim Thorsteinson, CEO of Enablence. "We will continue to lever the complementary strengths of the new Enablence to grow our business in the Asia-Pacific market."
