Enablence Secures Follow-on Order for Broadband Deployment with Tier 1 Central American Service Provider

JULY 27, 2010 - 16:53 ET

OTTAWA, CANADA--(Marketwire - July 27, 2010)

Enablence Technologies Inc. ("Enablence" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:ENA), a leading supplier of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) equipment for triple-play residential and business services and optical components and subsystems for access, metro and long-haul markets, has secured a follow-on contract from an existing Tier 1 customer which operates as the dominant telecommunications service provider in its country.

The new contract is for the supply of BroadAccess-1000E systems for deployment at 12 new sites as the customer continues a national deployment of broadband Internet and voice services that began last year.

This order follows the successful implementation of a large-scale Multiservice Access Network (MSAN) project, awarded to Teledata Networks in 2009. Last month, Enablence announced that it had completed its acquisition of Teledata to expand its international presence and round out its portfolio of optical access products for next-generation networks with Teledata's BroadAccess MSAN platform and VDSL2 capabilities. Teledata has become part of Enablence's Systems Division, while its chief executive, Eran Ziv, has assumed the role of President and General Manager of the Enablence Systems International Division.

The BroadAccess-1000E has provided this customer with a wide range of advanced multiservice access solutions to deliver a complete set of voice and broadband applications for residential and business customers. The systems support the multi-functionalities of an MSAG, IP-DSLAM, and Ethernet Access switch, providing a rich choice of services over fiber and copper for a seamless migration to a next-generation network architecture.

"We are glad to see this customer's endorsement of the BroadAccess-1000E, which, along with the rest of Teledata's flexible and cutting-edge solutions, will continue to be supported and offered to key international growth markets as valued offerings of our Systems Division," said Tim Thorsteinson, CEO of Enablence. "This order highlights the further growth of Enablence in Latin America, bolstered by Teledata Networks' extensive client base and leading market position in the region."
