Teledata Networks Announces BroadAccess’ Dual ATM/IP Architecture

Amsterdam, Netherlands – June 22, 2004: Teledata Networks, a leading provider of wireline access products and network solutions for telecom operators and service providers worldwide, announced today its unique Dual ATM/IP Architecture™, designed for the BroadAccess IMAP (Integrated Multiservice Access Platform).

The Dual ATM/IP Architecture transfers ATM and IP traffic on the BroadAccess backplane, enabling the system to adapt to the network requirements of different operators. The architecture comprises an ATM/IP backplane, powerful packet processing, VoIP Media Gateway & IP Uplink blades as well as integral STM-4 transmission blades – an ideal combination for supporting ATM, IP and new technologies as they emerge.

The new architecture complements BroadAccess’ integrative packet/TDM capabilities, which enable operators to continue providing legacy services by utilizing the existing infrastructure while also supporting advanced broadband services.

“We at Teledata Networks see the Dual ATM/IP Architecture as a direct response to today’s market needs,” said Eli Lotan, CTO, Teledata Neworks. “It makes BroadAccess a perfect fit for different markets characterized by either ATM or IP backbones, as well as for operators who desire a smooth migration from ATM to IP. The new architecture positions BroadAccess as a leader in the broadband access market.”

The Dual ATM/IP Architecture is also being implemented in FleXport, a powerful multiservice solution providing advanced datacom services over copper/fiber infrastructure for the business sector.
